Home / Home Improvement / Pools Aren?t Safe without Proper Fencing
Earlier this month, we featured a blog post about how iron fencing can add both beauty and safety to the perimeter of your home.
Now that spring is officially here, keeping your property safe is even more important. This is especially true if you own a swimming pool.
Did you know?
- Drowning is one of the leading causes of death for children.
- Most children were being watched by an adult just before they drowned.
- Approximately 400 children age 14 and younger drown in pools and spas each year.
- Home swimming pools are the most common place for a child younger than age 5 to drown.
These statistics are alarming, but it?s important to know that home pool drownings are 100% preventable!
SafeKids.org suggests having a fence professionally installed. It should be at least 4 ft. high and surround all sides of the pool. Most importantly, it should include a locking mechanism that children cannot tamper with.
Besides iron fencing, Johnson County Siding & Window Co. also offers vinyl fencing for a beautiful and safe perimeter. Call us at 913-782-2878 to discuss installing a fence around your pool and/or home this season.
