Worldwide Enterprise Videoconferencing Market to Reach Almost ...

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.?(BUSINESS WIRE)?The worldwide enterprise videoconferencing market grew to approximately $2.7 billion in revenue in 2011, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Enterprise Videoconferencing and Telepresence 2012-2016 Forecast. Total worldwide enterprise videoconferencing revenue also managed a healthy 20.6% year-over-year growth rate in 2011.

?Growth in worldwide enterprise videoconferencing and telepresence in 2011 was spurred on by well-defined video use cases across a variety of vertical market business segments, as well as the continuing decrease of cultural barriers to video acceptance within organizations?

For 2012, IDC expects the worldwide enterprise video market to grow to almost $3.2 billion in total revenue, with a slightly lower, but still healthy year-over-year growth rate of 18.7%.

?Growth in worldwide enterprise videoconferencing and telepresence in 2011 was spurred on by well-defined video use cases across a variety of vertical market business segments, as well as the continuing decrease of cultural barriers to video acceptance within organizations,? said Rich Costello, senior research analyst, Enterprise Communications Infrastructure, at IDC. ?We also expect to see increasing integrations of video and telepresence with unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) applications driving the market during the forecast period.?

In addition, the total worldwide enterprise video infrastructure equipment market saw impressive year-over-year revenue growth of 22.4% in 2011, to $716 million in total revenue. The video infrastructure equipment market includes revenue from MCUs, gateways, video network servers and appliances, and other related video network equipment.

Conversely, worldwide immersive telepresence revenue, which is the high-cost, high-end HD segment of the enterprise video and telepresence spectrum, came in at just over $315 million in 2011, a 22% decrease in growth over 2010. IDC sees this as further evidence of an increasing trend of video pushing down market in the enterprise to a growing segment of smaller workgroup, desktop, and mobile collaboration users.

The IDC study, Worldwide Enterprise Videoconferencing and Telepresence 2012?2016 Forecast (IDC #233538) contains a five-year forecast for worldwide videoconferencing and telepresence revenue and growth. All revenue numbers are IDC estimates based on guidance from the vendors, financial reports, and secondary research. In addition, the study breaks out videoconferencing revenue percentage by four major worldwide regions (Asia/Pacific, Central America/Latin America, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and North America).
