After a busy week for Neil Patrick Harris, which included hosting the Tony Awards Sunday, the "How I Met Your Mother" star turns 39 today.

It's been an exciting year for Harris, who with his E! correspondent fiance, David Burtka, welcomed twins Gideon and Harper in October of 2010 through the use of a surrogate. Despite not wanting to be "gay role models," Harris and Burtka have given hope to other devoted gay couples wanting biological children of their own.

The Emmy Award winner also has much to celebrate professionally this year: He received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, starred in box-office success "The Smurfs," won the People's Choice Award for Favorite TV Comedy Actor and hosted the Tony Awards for the third time.

The multitalented actor doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon and can look forward to another entertaining year with the release of "The Smurfs 2" in 2013 as well as "How I Met Your Mother" confirmed for another season -- not to mention chasing around after his adorable twins!

Happy Birthday Neil!
